SMS Text Messages — How They Work¶
NotaryDash sends SMS text messages for key order events. This article explains who gets texts, when they're sent, and what they contain.
Who Receives SMS Messages¶
Notaries are the primary recipients of SMS notifications. Texts are sent when you're invited to an order, when an appointment is approaching, and for other order status events relevant to your assignments.
Signers receive email notifications (not SMS) — for example, a confirmation email after the appointment is set.
Signing service staff do not typically receive SMS notifications from the platform — order updates for signing services go primarily through email and the in-platform dashboard.
When SMS Messages Are Sent¶
The platform sends text messages at these points in the order lifecycle:
- Order invitation — when a notary is invited to accept a new order; includes appointment time, location, and a link (expires after 24 hours)
- Appointment rescheduled — when an appointment time changes; includes the new time and a link (expires after 7 days)
- Opt-out reminder — sent after the first order invitation from a new company if the notary hasn't previously received one from that sender

What the Messages Contain¶
SMS messages from NotaryDash typically include:
- A brief description of the event (e.g., new order invitation, upcoming appointment)
- Key order details such as date, time, and location
- A link to view the full order details in the platform
Messages are kept short by design. For complete information, use the link in the message to open the order in NotaryDash.
Where Texts Come From¶
All SMS messages are sent from registered NotaryDash business numbers. The platform is compliant with carrier regulations for business messaging, which means messages come from verified numbers and include standard opt-out instructions.
You may see a toll-free number as the sender. This is expected — it is a legitimate NotaryDash number, not spam.

If You're Not Receiving Texts¶
If you're not getting expected text messages, the most common cause is an unintentional opt-out. Replying STOP to any text from a NotaryDash number will unsubscribe your phone from that number. This is a carrier-level behavior and happens automatically.
See SMS Opt-Out & How to Re-Subscribe for steps to re-enable SMS delivery.
Also verify that the phone number on your NotaryDash profile is correct. An outdated or incorrect number will prevent delivery regardless of your subscription status.
