Searching for Notaries by Location

NotaryDash finds available notaries near your signing location and shows driving time and distance so you can make a fast, informed assignment decision.

How Notary Search Works

The search is based on the signing address — the location where the appointment will take place. NotaryDash matches that address against a database of 280,000+ notaries and returns results ranked by proximity.

Each result in the list shows:

  • Notary name
  • Distance from the signing address
  • Estimated driving time
  • Verified credential indicators
  • Rating and completed signing history

  1. Open the order you're working on and navigate to the notary assignment section.
  2. Enter or confirm the signing address. Use the exact street address where the signing will happen — not your office address or a general area.
  3. Click Search (or equivalent button). Results load with the closest notaries at the top.
  4. Review the results list. Use distance and drive time to judge feasibility for your appointment window.

Filtering and Sorting Results

You can narrow results to find the right notary faster:

  • Sort by distance — shows notaries closest to the signing address first
  • Sort by rating — surfaces highest-rated notaries
  • Filter by credentials — limit results to notaries with specific verified credentials (E&O, NNA Certification, Background Check, etc.)

Viewing a Notary's Full Profile

Before assigning, you can review a notary's complete profile:

  1. Click the notary's name in the search results.
  2. The profile opens and shows their credentials, verification status, rating history, completed signing count, and any notes.
  3. Use this to confirm the notary meets your requirements before sending an invitation.

Tips for Better Results

  • Use the actual signing address. The search is distance-based from the signing location. Using your office or a placeholder address will return incorrect results and may cause you to assign a notary who is actually far from the signer.
  • Search early. For same-day or short-notice orders, searching and assigning as early as possible gives notaries more time to accept.
  • Check drive time, not just distance. A notary 8 miles away in heavy traffic may have a 45-minute drive time, while one 12 miles away via freeway may be 20 minutes.
  • Review credentials before assigning. The results list shows credential indicators, but the full profile gives you the detail on what's been verified and when.
