Notary Account Setup & Claiming Your Profile

If you're a certified notary signing agent, this article explains how to get onto NotaryDash, verify your credentials, and reach "verified" status so signing services can assign orders to you.

You May Already Have a Profile

NotaryDash pre-populates its notary network using data from the National Notary Association (NNA). If you hold an NNA certification, there's a good chance a profile already exists for you on the platform — you just need to claim it.

Before creating a brand-new account, check whether your profile already exists by starting the account setup process and entering your email address. If a match is found, you'll be prompted to claim the existing profile rather than create a new one.

Requirements to Sign Up

To create a NotaryDash account as a notary, you must meet all three requirements:

  1. Active NNA certification — you must hold a current National Notary Association certification
  2. NNA-certified status — your certification must be active (not expired or lapsed)
  3. Access to your NNA email — you must be able to receive email at the address you registered with the NNA

If you don't meet these requirements, you will not be able to create an account at this time.

Claiming Your Profile

Since NotaryDash pre-populates profiles from NNA data, the signup process will match you to your existing profile. Once matched, you set your password and fill in any missing details. There is no separate "create a new account" path — all notary signups go through the NNA-based claim process.

You'll need to submit your credentials before you can receive assignments.

Credentials You'll Need to Submit

Before a signing service can assign orders to you, your credentials must be on file and verified. NotaryDash supports the following credential types:

  • W-9 — Required for payment purposes. This is your IRS W-9 tax form.
  • Errors & Omissions (E&O) Insurance — Your current E&O policy certificate showing coverage dates.
  • NNA Certification — Your National Notary Association certification.
  • Background Check — A current background check result. [NEEDS VERIFICATION: whether NotaryDash runs this or you upload it]
  • Driver's License — A copy of your valid state-issued driver's license.
  • Notary Commission — Your current notary commission certificate from your state.

To upload credentials:

  1. Log in to your NotaryDash account.
  2. Go to Notary Credentials in the navigation menu.
  3. Select the credential type you want to add.
  4. Upload the document and enter any required details (such as expiration dates).
  5. Save the credential. It will be reviewed and marked as verified once approved.

What "Verified" Status Means

When your credentials are reviewed and approved, your profile receives verified status. This is important because:

  • Signing services can see that your credentials are current and on file
  • You become eligible to receive order assignment offers
  • Some signing services require verified status before they'll send you any assignments

Until your credentials are verified, you may have limited visibility to signing services in the network.

Keeping Credentials Current

Credentials like E&O insurance and your notary commission have expiration dates. When a credential expires, your verified status for that item lapses. Keep an eye on expiration dates and upload updated documents before they expire to avoid interruptions to your assignments.

Completing Your Profile

Beyond credentials, a complete profile helps signing services find and choose you. Fill in:

  • Your full name and contact information
  • Service area (the counties or zip codes you cover)
  • Languages spoken
  • Background or bio

The more complete your profile, the better your chances of receiving assignments from signing services in your area.
